The process towards buying my new home started with selling my old one. The sale took much longer than I anticipated which delayed my purchase. The purchase date was very close to the end of my company's relocation period and Veterans United worked diligently with everyone involved around the Christmas Holiday to get me an early close and meet my timeliness. They were beyond courteous helpful every step of the way.
The team was very helpfull, professional, and very patient , answering my many questions.
Process was simple and easy to get approved. Andy Miller was fantastic to work with. Was kept in the loop during entire process, and had everything explained to me in detail as I was a first time home-buyer. He made sure all of my questions were answered and never made me feel "rushed". Highly recommend ????
They help me through the process but it’s so hard to contact them. I almost lost the house because they take so long to give my Loan approval. I would recommend it but I think they need improvement to communicate with the builder.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Krim,
Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m really sorry for how difficult it was to reach us and for the delays that nearly put your home at risk. I know how stressful that can be, especially when timing and builder communication are so important.
I do appreciate you recognizing that our team helped guide you through the process, but it’s clear we need to do better when it comes to responsiveness and coordination. Your feedback is helpful and something we take seriously.
If you’d like to talk more about what happened, our Client Advocate team is available at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time.
Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
Everyone was very helpful and always so quick to respond.
This is not my first mortgage and not my first with Veterans United. I'm not sure if was the team that was assigned to me was that awesome or if Veterans United improved their process that much. The process was streamed with an awesome web interface. Everything I needed to do was updated in real-time and I was able to submit online.
The entire team was outstanding. Ellis was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Katie was a true MVP making sure everything was seamless and smooth through the entire process. Amazing Team!
Kelly Stephens was patient over the phone and explained what needed to be done when I did not want to upload my docs online to the Veterans United Home Loan site. She then contacted the attorney's office to request a hard copy of the signed closing docs to be sent to me through the US postal service - that were not provided to me at the day of the May 11, 2020 closing (and really should have been - as was done through my experience with other house closings in the past over my 23-yr, 7 mo. military active and civilian career, I had signed 2 copies at same time - one for me and for the other copy to stay for file of seller personnel)….It was a horrible closing experience through a "pandemic" - that was used by the builder attorney office as an excuse not to have any others attend the closing but office admin. and me, so a thank you here to Kelly! A hard copy was finally received at my new address on June 10.....

Stacy, Sarah, Holly, Yolanda and my entire team was phenomenal. This was my first home purchase and I’m very happy that it was with veterans United home loans.
Absolutely, Jeremy Arnold is amazing to work with made my home buying process so easy and stress free on me. 10/10 would recommend him to anyone wanting to buy a house
The whole process was so quick. I shouldn’t waited so long to apply.
We worked with Veterans United for several months, starting back in spring 2025, originally planning a move in early 2026. Our timeline accelerated, and their team handled it exceptionally well. One of the biggest challenges was selling our Alaska home, which had a 2.5% VA loan through Veterans United. Their team guided us through the loan assumption process, allowing another veteran to assume the loan. This not only helped the buyer, but it allowed us to capture a premium on our home and move forward smoothly. The coordination was excellent — we closed on our Alaska home and then closed on our new home in Washington just two days later. That kind of timing doesn’t happen without a strong, experienced lender behind the scenes. Our loan officer, Katie Smith, was professional, responsive, and on top of every detail throughout the process. She made a complex transaction feel manageable and kept everything moving. If you’re a veteran navigating a sale, a VA loan assumption, or a cross-state move, Veterans United truly understands how to make the VA system work for you. Highly recommend.
Very easy to work with and very responsive to my questions.
